Dundalk yet to be awarded 2025 League of Ireland licence

Dundalk said that "significant progress" towards the club being awarded a licence for 2025 has been made with the FAI.

Dundalk are yet to be awarded a club licence for the 2025 League of Ireland season.

The club were relegated from the Premier Division this season amid serious financial issues at Oriel Park. A consortium fronted by Dundalk solicitor John Temple took control of the club from Brian Ainscough in September.

All ten men's Premier Division clubs have been issued with a licence as have nine from the men's First Division.

A statement from the FAI said Dundalk are "still engaged in the Club Licensing process".

The club said that "significant progress for Club Licensing 2025 has been made working with our partners in the FAI".

"It was always widely understood that the process this time around would be difficult," a statement from Dundalk continued.

"Player contracts, financials, and other legacy issues all exist from prior ownership and must be audited so that accurate compliance reporting can be delivered to the FAI.

"The FAI and the current directors of Dundalk FC are ensuring and pursuing a full rigorous application which will now take a few days to complete, resulting in licence approval."
