Ex-Limerick hurler appointed by Liverpool to lead physio role

The 39-year-old was part of the Na Piarsaigh team that won an All-Ireland senior title in 2016 and has five Limerick and four Munster senior club titles to his name.

Former Limerick hurler David Breen has taken up a new role as first team rehabilitation physiotherapist with Liverpool Football Club.

Na Piarsaigh man Breen previously worked with English Premiership rugby club Harlequins in London prior and has been physio with the Ireland national soccer team.

Breen was first team physio with Munster Rugby between 2021 and ‘23. He has also worked with Manchester City’s academy, Wasps, Leinster Rugby and Celtic FC’s academy.

Na Piarsaigh’s X account posted news of Breen’s appointment at Liverpool along with a photo of him holding a jersey. “Davy has taken up the role of first team physio with Liverpool and we're all immensely proud in Na Piarsaigh today.”

A rangy forward, Breen stepped away from the inter-county game in 2015 having won a Munster SHC medal two years earlier. The 39-year-old was part of the Na Piarsaigh team that won an All-Ireland senior title in 2016 and has five Limerick and four Munster senior club titles to his name.
