Ireland U17s qualify for Euros elite round following late drama

Goodness Ogbonna's late goal combined with one from Northern Ireland's Paul McGovern and Ireland having a better disciplinary record than Lithuania sent Colin O'Brien's side through to the elite phase.

Ireland men’s U17s have qualified for the elite phase of the European Championships in remarkable fashion after beating Scotland 3-0 in Larne.

A goal in the fourth minute of added time from Goodness Ogbonna combined with a late goal conceded by Lithuania against Northern Ireland meant Colin O’Brien’s team pipped the Lithuanians to the final group qualification spot.
