It was 3.23am on Saturday morning by the time Mark Coyle slowly descended the steps of Tolka Park with Shelbourne’s first league trophy since 2006.

Celebrations had begun closer to his Donegal home for the captain, at nearby Derry over the border, but the jigs on the Brandywell pitch and along the three-hour journey south were secondary to the Tolka tour.
