Darwin Nunez has been banned for five international matches and fined $20,000 (€18,000) for his involvement in a brawl with fans following Uruguay's loss to Colombia at the Copa America.
The Liverpool striker will be suspended for his country until their World Cup qualifier against Brazil in November, while Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has also been fined $16,000 (€14,000) as well as receiving a reduced ban of four games.
The incidents occurred following Colombia's 1-0 win over Uruguay at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 11. Violence broke out in a section of the crowd close to where the Uruguay players' families were sat, with Nunez and his teammates climbing into the stands to defend them.
South American football's governing body CONMEBOL have sanctioned a total of 11 players following the incidents at the tournament in the United States of America during the summer, with the Uruguayan FA fined $120,000.
