Ipswich Town have confirmed the signing of Chiedozie Ogbene from Luton Town for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old Corkman joins the Premier League side on a four-year deal.

“I’m very excited and feel lucky to have this opportunity to play in the Premier League again,” Ogbene told TownTV.

“I’ve had very positive chats with the manager and for someone to believe in me that I could play at this level again means a lot to me and my family.

“I know what he wants from me and the role I will play and I’m here to be a positive addition to the squad as we look to achieve our goals.

“It’s an opportunity I had to grab with both hands and I can’t wait to be involved as soon as possible.”

Ogbene added on his X account: "I am extremely happy and blessed to be here. I hope I can help bring great joy and success to this Town for many years to come."

Ogbene joined Luton from Rotherham on a free transfer last summer. Despite the club being relegated from the Premier League, the Ireland international impressed as he scored five goals in 39 games in all competitions.

He joins a burgeoning Irish contingent at Ipswich. The newly promoted side recently signed Ogbene's fellow Ireland internationals Sammie Szmodics from Blackburn and Dara O'Shea from Burnley. Former Ireland U21 international Jack Taylor is also at the club as is Marcus Harness who has been involved with Irish squads in the past. Liam Delap, the son of former Ireland international Rory Delap, was a summer signing while Fermanagh man Kieran McKenna is the manager.

Ogbene will wear the number 21 jersey at Ipswich and he will link up with his new teammates immediately.
