The prospects of a third Women’s FAI final in a row between holders Athlone Town and Shelbourne remains a possibility following Tuesday’s semi-final draw.
Cork City, who last reached the final in 2020 when they lost to double winners Peamount United, overcame Bohemians last weekend with a late 2-1 victory and will travel to Tolka Park for their semi-final.
Former Shels midfielder Jamie Finn, recovery from a knee injury, helped make the draw alongside FAI President Paul Cooke.
Athlone Town, vying with Shelbourne for the title on the run-in, are on the road to face Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds.
“You’d have to say Shels and Athlone are favourites after the draw but Sligo and Cork City are capable of producing results on the day,” said Birmingham City playmaker Finn, hoping to be back in action for Ireland well in time for next summer’s Euros, should they navigate the playoffs. Semi-final ties are to be played on week-ending Sunday, September 22.
Sligo Rovers v Athlone Town, Showgrounds.
Shelbourne v Cork City, Tolka Park.
The Women’s FAI Cup final is scheduled for Sunday, October 20 at Tallaght Stadium (3pm).
