Derry City sign former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom

Wisdom spent last season with Warrington Town and will join City until the end of the season as the Candystripes tussle for the 2024 SSE Airtricity Premier Division title.

Derry City have announced the signing of former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old made the breakthrough at Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers before joining Derby County for £4.5million in 2017 following loan spells at Derby, West Brom and Red Bull Salzburg, where he won the double.

The former England underage international, who can play at either right back or centre half, spent last season with Warrington Town and will join Derry City until the end of the season as the Candystripes challenge for the SSE Airtricity Premier Division title.

They are currently two points behind league leaders Shelbourne with nine fixtures remaining although they have played one game more.

Should Wisdom be granted international clearance, as expected, he will be part of the squad that travels to the RSC to face Waterford on Friday.
