Republic of Ireland U21 international Bosun Lawal is closing in on a move to Stoke City after they agreed a £2-3million deal with Celtic.

Despite enjoying a productive pre-season with Brendan Rodgers' side, the Scottish giants accepted a bid from Stoke and the 21-year-old defender, who was called up to the Ireland senior set-up for the friendly against Hungary in June, is set to have his medical with the Potters on Friday afternoon.

Lawal enjoyed an impressive loan at English League One side Fleetwood Town last season where he emerged as an option in midfield as well as his preferred position of centre-back.

After that successful spell, it is believed the former St Kevins' and Bohemians youth star is keen to secure more game-time in the first-team in the coming season.
