Caoimhín Kelleher has set his sights on playing more games and winning for trophies for Liverpool next season.
It’s nine years since the Cork native swapped Ringmahon Rangers for Liverpool and there has been plenty of speculation that the 25-year-old was likely to seek a new challenge and become the first choice goalkeeper elsewhere.
But speaking to the club’s official website, the Republic of Ireland international admitted he is looking forward to the new season under new manager, Arne Slot.
“The bones of the squad is still there and we want to push on,” began the Mahon man, who made 26 appearances for the Reds last season and helped them win the Carabao Cup.
“It’s not a rebuild or anything like that, it’s just finding those little extra things that can hopefully push us on and get us over the line to win some more trophies.
“[My targets are] similar to last year really. Obviously I had a lot of games last season, which was really good. So just looking to do the same really and keep the same level of performance as well.
“It’s obviously been such a long time now since I came over when I was 16. Time flies, I’ve enjoyed every minute here, to be fair.
“I just want to try to keep going and going on that upward trajectory. It’s been really enjoyable and I’m looking to push on.
“[Slot] has been excellent so far. A lot of detail to what he wants us to do, there’s a lot of stuff to take onboard but he gets his messages across really well and easy to understand as well, which is helpful.
“His sessions are intense and he pushes us, which is always good. It has been really enjoyable so far, I must say.”
