Bray and Athlone continue hot form in LOI First Division

Athlone Towns' Dean Ebbe celebrates.

Bray made it four First Division league wins in a row for the first time since 2020 as they beat Kerry 2-0 at home. Four was the magic number in Bray as Peter Grogan scored for the fourth game running aswell. Cristian Magerusan had earlier come off the bench to claim the vital opening score to put the Green and White’s ahead. On his 50th appearance for the Wicklow club, full back Max Murphy did well off the right flank to deliver a low cross and the striker applied the finishing touch close in. Then with 12 minutes to go Grogan became just sixth player for the Seasiders to find the net in four consecutive league fixtures to seal the points. Substitute Conor Knight embarked on a mazy run off the right flank. He slipped in Magerusan whose shot on the swivel was thwarted by Antonio Tuta, but Grogan followed up to force the ball over the line from close range.

An underwhelming Treaty United fell to an organised UCD 2-0 at Markets Field, as a goal in either half gave the visitors the three points. Youngsters Mikey McCullagh and Hugh Parker found the net. It stretches the Limerick sides winless run to eight-games. With just 764 in attendance, the mood has changed on Shannonside after a buoyant start to the campaign. While UCD, second, open up a three-point gap to a trio of sides beneath them. It is now eight games since the Belfield outfit fell to a defeat.
