The FAI will not have a new men’s team manager starting with immediate effect.

Director of football Marc Canham had stated while naming John O’Shea as interim boss for the March friendlies that the plan was for the permanent manager to start their tenure in April.

While the FAI indicated an announcement would be forthcoming this week, or latest early next week, it’s now believed the arrival of the new manager will be in the summer.

They had cited “external contract obligations” for the initial delay in revealing the identity of the new manager.

The FAI board is to receive an update from Canham at a meeting on Wednesday.
