Wes Hoolahan starts for Ireland as Martin O’Neill makes two changes

Glenn Whelan and Wes Hoolahan have been drafted in by Republic of Ireland boss Martin O'Neill for tonight's World Cup qualifier in Moldova.

Whelan replaces the suspended Jeff Hendrick in midfield while Hoolahan comes in for Robbie Brady, who was ruled out after suffering concussion during the 1-0 win over Georgia on Thursday.

Darren Randolph continues in goal behind a back four of Stephen Ward, Ciaran Clark, Shane Duffy and Seamus Coleman.

Whelan, James McCarthy, James McClean and Hoolahan are in midfield, with Jonathan Walters and Shane Long up front.

There is a place on the bench for Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney.

Moldova manager Igor Dobrovolski made five changes to the side which lost 3-0 at home to Serbia, with Nicolae Calancea, Igor Armas, Vitalie Bordian, Veaceslav Posmac and Eugen Zasavitchi getting the nod.
