An X-ray has been released of Demba Ba’s broken leg showing the full severity of the injury, writes Stephen Barry.

The ex-Chelsea forward faces a battle to resume his career in the Chinese Super League after suffering the horrific leg break.

Playing for Shanghai Shenhua, Ba’s left leg tangled with defender Sun Xiang and was left at a right angle.

The X-ray makes almost as grim a viewing as the incident itself.

“It could end his professional career,” manager Gregorio Manzano said.

“I would rather lose the game than lose Ba.”
