Shane Long back from injury for Southampton against Newcastle

Good news for Ireland fans as at least one of Martin O'Neill's striking options is returning to action this weekend.

Shane Long has recovered from knee trouble in time for Southampton's Premier League clash with Newcastle at St Mary's on Saturday.

The Republic of Ireland forward is ready to lead Saints' line, while midfielder Steven Davis will miss out with an ankle issue.

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman still hopes Davis will be fit in time for the trip to Everton on April 16.
