VIDEO: Boost for Ireland as O’Shea and Long return to train
By Shaun Cronin
Republic of Ireland manger Martin O’Neill had some welcome returns at training this morning ahead of Ireland crucial Euro 2016 play-off second leg with Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Sunderland defender John O’Shea and Southampton striker Shane Long took a full part in the section of Ireland training open to the media at the FAI National training centre in Abbottstown.
Both appear to be winning the race to be involved in tomorrow’s game at the Aviva Stadium with the tie standing at 1-1 after Friday night’s match in Zenica.
O’Shea has been out of action with a hamstring injury he sustained in the Tyne-Wear in late October, while Long hasn’t appeared since Ireland’s loss to Poland on October 11 after picking up a sufficient ankle injury.
There was some worrying news for O’Neill however as Ipswich striker Daryl Murphy sat out training. Murphy is carrying a knock picked up leading the line in Bosnia on Friday and is not taking part as a precaution.
