Wexford Youths Women have won the FAI Women’s Cup for the first time in their history after a riveting battle with Shelbourne Ladies at the Aviva Stadium.

The Match went to halftime without a goal, but Siobhan Killeen gave Shelbourne the lead 10 minutes into the second half.

Wexford Youths fought valiantly to bring themselves back onto the game, but it looked destined to be Shelbourne’s day until Ciara Rossiter got the equaliser in injury time.

Wexford though they had the win when they scored with 6 minutes left in injury time, but another last-gasp goal, this time from Shelbourne, sent the game to penalties.

Wexford converted all four of their penalties through Ruth Fahy, Rianna Jarrett, Claire O’Riordan and Kylie Murphy.

Noelle Murray and Shauna Newman both missed for Shels seeing Youths land the cup for the first time.
