Grealish not included in Ireland squad to face England

Martin O’Neill has announced a 33-man Republic of Ireland panel for the upcoming matches against England and Scotland, but it does not include Aston Villa starlet Jack Grealish.

There had been speculation that O’Neill would call up the 19-year-old in order to commit him to the green jersey.

Grealish has played for Ireland at underage level, but is also eligible to play for England and could still declare for them at senior level.

Today’s provisional squad announcement sees the inclusion of Brentford’s Alan Judge and Aberdeen’s Adam Rooney.

O'Neill's men play England in a friendly in the Aviva Stadium on Sunday, June 7, and then face Scotland in a UEFA Euro 2016 Group D qualifier - also in the Aviva on Saturday, June 13.

The squad will be shortened ahead of assembling on June 1.

Speaking at today's press conference O’Neill said, “We have some very big games coming up, which the players will savour to be a part of.

“I have named a provisional squad today, which I will shorten before we meet up on June 1. I am looking forward to meeting up, and setting to work with the players.”
