Is Maximus going to buy Leeds United?
Leeds United’s long and winding history could be about to take another turn, with Hollywood actor Russell Crowe asking his Twitter followers if he should buy the club.
Crowe is a self-confessed Leeds fans, and has a good record of club ownership.
In 2006 he bought the South Sydney Rabbitohs, an Australian rugby league side he had supported since childhood. Since then the side has gone from being perennial strugglers to winning the premiership in 2014 for the first time in 43 years, defeating the Canterbury Bulldogs in the Grand Final.
“@Samwild90: @russellcrowe please buy leeds. In need of help!!” Anybody else think this is a good idea?

So when Crowe tweeted his interest in buying the English team there were a lot of very happy Leeds fans.
@russellcrowe @benleeds @Samwild90 yes. Do it. Now.

If @russellcrowe wants to buy #lufc, I'm all for that. Seems to really care about the @SSFCRABBITOHS, no changing the colours though Russell

And many more who, like us, are just in it for the Gladiator jokes.
@russellcrowe Yes. They are a sleeping giant. Build them back to what they once were. A bit like what you wanted for Rome in Gladiator.

.@russellcrowe @Samwild90 Yes! If only for the chance for us to make constant Gladiator references.
