Players scale fences to talk to fans as Dortmund hit bottom

Borussia Dortmund fans upset by their side's spectacular fall from grace this season received consolation from an unusual source - when their players came over to them after another defeat to apologise for the performance and appeal for calm.

Dortmund, who finished second in the Bundesliga last season and played in the Champions League final in 2013, are currently bottom of the table after yet another defeat last night.

The crowd was understandably irate at the final whistle and so goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller and defender Mats Hummels headed over to the sideline instead of disappearing down the tunnel.

Weidenfeller jumped onto the dividing fence to talk to the supporters while Hummels spoke to others through the wire.

The results may be dire at the moment, but Borussia fans can at least comfort themselves that they have a team who care about their supporters’ concerns and feelings.
