West Ham’s new signing really regrets running his mouth off
Diego Poyet, son of Gus, signed for West Ham this summer but it doesn’t look like he was dreaming of this move since boyhood.
If he had he probably wouldn’t have said in 2011:
“I went to Subway and asked for the biggest, greasiest and most expensive sub they had. They gave me Andy Carroll.”
Oh dear.
It can’t even be excused as a one-off as Poyet shared his opinion of Carroll on a number of other occasions, helpfully gathered here by @Wheelo1970.

Diego’s dad played for Chelsea so it is understandable he would have inherited an anti-hammers bias but maybe a little more caution and he wouldn’t now be backtracking like crazy with his new teammates.
He posted this apology to Twitter yesterday,
and Big Andy appears to have forgiven him.
A big thanks to @diegopoyet7 for agreeing to make my morning cuppa every morning for the next month!! ☕️💪

So all’s well that ends well. Now he just has to face Stewart Downing.
It must be pretty awkward at Upton Park now. #poyet #whfc #downing pic.twitter.com/bcvAEji2XI
