Maccabi Haifa team members were attacked by pro-Palestine protesters during a pre-season friendly.

The Israeli club team were playing the match against French side Lille last night, in the Austrian town of Bischofshofan.

The match was in the 85th minute when pro-Palestine protesters invaded the field and began attacking Maccabi Haifa players.

The referee was forced to stop the game and both teams left the field without any serious injury.

The Israeli side was later escorted from the stadium under guard as a number of protesters remained in the vicinity.

UEFA had previously announced that Israeli clubs would not be allowed to host European matches due to the 'unrest' in Israel.
