Sligo and Dundalk given daunting away trips in Europa League qualifiers

The draw for the Europa League first qualifying round has pitted the League of Ireland clubs against teams from Lithuania, Luxembourg and Wales.

Derry City face Aberystwyth Town, Sligo Rovers play Lithuanians FK Banga and Dundalk face Jeunesse Esch of Luxembourg.

Dundalk had the potential to play Aberdeen and Crusaders in the regionalised draw but they were paired with opponents from further afield.

The Candystripes' opening tie is scheduled to take place at the Brandywell on July 3 with the return leg a week later, although the final details are yet to be confirmed.

Dundalk and Sligo both face long away trips in the first leg before enjoying home comforts on July 10.

Linfield were handed a tie against Faroese side B36 Torshavn while Crusaders take on Ekranas of Lithuania and Glenavon take on FH Hafnarfjordur of Iceland.

Welsh seeds Bangor City have been given a tough game against Icelandic league leaders Stjarnan while Airbus UK Broughton take on Norwegian side FK Haugesund.
