Drunken United fan calls 999 and demands they put Fergie on the line

We know things are bad at Old Trafford at the moment, but we never thought that fans were in such a panic the police needed to be called.

At around 10.30pm last night Greater Manchester Police received a call from one drunk, angry Manchester United fan who insisted the police put former manger Alex Ferguson on the line.

This came on the back of United’s Capital One Cup semi-final exit to Sunderland after one of the worst penalty shoot-outs ever seen.

Greater Manchester Police obliviously refused and in a post on their Facebook wall the police have asked fans to call Old Trafford directly if they wish to speak to Fergie.

“Obviously, it can be a sad and depressing moment when your football team loses a game, however can we all please remember that 999 is to be used for emergencies only.

“If you would like to speak to Sir Alex about recent football results we here at GMP Manchester North can only suggest you try ringing Manchester United FC directly as you will probably (not definitely) have a much better chance of getting through to him there rather than ringing the police,” said the police.

Poor old David Moyes can’t catch a break at the moment, even Paddy Power had a go at him the other day placing a life-size waxwork of Fergie inside a ‘break in case of emergency box’ outside the ‘Theatre of Dreams’.

At least the police had a sense of humour about it because Moyes can’t find anything funny given United’s form at the moment.
