VIDEO: Greenpeace disrupt Real Madrid press conference

Greenpeace have stuck again, with Real Madrid and the Champions League the targets of their campaign to save the Arctic.

The incident took place during a Real Madrid press conference in Copenhagen today, in the lead up to the Spanish giants tie with FC Copenhagen tomorrow.

In the middle of a Q&A session with the assembled media a Greenpeace branded banner unfurled behind coach Carlo Ancelotti and defender Pepe reading “Save the Arctic and show Gazprom the red card”.

Gazprom is one of the world’s biggest natural gas extractors and is headquartered in Moscow.

Greenpeace activists have been targeting major sporting events sponsored by mega-rich oil and gas companies of late with Gazprom in particular baring the brunt of these protests.

This includes a major disruption in October during the Champions League game between FC Basel and Schalke 04.

They also caused huge embarrassment to Formula 1 and oil company Shell by flashing banners during the trophy celebration for Sebastian Vettel’s Belgian Grand Prix win in August.
