AVB gives three new signings debut at Palace

Roberto Soldado, Paulinho and Nacer Chadli all made their debuts, but there was no place in the squad for Gareth Bale as Tottenham began their Barclays Premier League campaign at Crystal Palace.

Jan Vertonghen overcame an ankle injury to start in defence while new signing Etienne Capoue was named among the Spurs substitutes.

Ian Holloway handed Dwight Gayle his debut and Stephen Dobbie started his first game for Palace since signing on a permanent basis from Brighton.
