FA to investigate after missile hits Ferdinand

The Football Association has confirmed it has opened an investigation into an incident at the end of today’s Manchester derby when an object was thrown from the crowd and hit United’s Rio Ferdinand.

Ferdinand was seen wiping blood from his face following the incident which took place in the aftermath of United’s injury-time winner in their 3-2 victory at the Etihad Stadium.
