Neil Lennon’s other new outfield recruit, Lassad Nouioui, started on the bench while skipper Scott Brown shrugged off an ongoing hip problem to return to the midfield and Charlie Mulgrew was back in defence after recovering from an Achilles injury.

St Johnstone boss Steve Lomas had seven players out with a virus on Thursday but was able to field the same side which drew 0-0 with Dundee United in their last outing, with Rowan Vine supporting Gregory Tade in attack.
