Sunderland express Michael Owen interest

Sunderland have expressed an interest in bringing former Newcastle striker Michael Owen back to the north-east.

It is understood the Black Cats made initial contact with the 32-year-old free agent as manager Martin O’Neill attempted to boost his striking options with the summer transfer window drawing to a close.
