Sunderland boss Martin O’Neill handed debuts to Adam Johnson and Steven Fletcher in tonight’s Capital One Cup second round clash with League Two Morecambe.

The pair, recruited for a total investment well in excess of £20m on Friday, started as O’Neill also handed chances to goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and defender Titus Bramble.
