Long 'ready' to play in season opener

Republic of Ireland striker Shane Long has declared himself “fit and ready to go” ahead of West Brom’s Premier League opener against Liverpool on Saturday.

Long did not figure in the Republic’s scoreless draw in their friendly against Serbia last night after apparently sustaining a calf injury in training despite being named in the starting line-up.
