Argentina's Yacob close to Baggies switch

Argentina international Claudio Yacob has joined West Brom’s pre-season training camp in Malmo with a view to making a permanent switch to the Hawthorns.

The 25-year-old is a free agent after being released by Racing Club, and Baggies boss Steve Clarke is keen to add the midfielder to his squad.

Sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth told the club’s official website: “This will give Claudio the chance to take a closer look at us, and us at him.”

Fit-again Jerome Thomas and George Thorne have also linked up with the squad in Sweden, but midfielder Chris Brunt has flown home for treatment on a calf problem.
