Barton denies ban ploy

Joey Barton today denied trying to deflect attention away from his behaviour at Manchester City as he waited to learn whether faced a nine-match ban.

QPR midfielder Barton apologised again this morning for his red card and subsequent actions in his side’s 3-2 defeat yesterday which marred City’s sensational Barclays Premier League title win and their opponents’ survival celebrations.
