Return of the King for Spurs
Ledley King returns but there is no place in the Tottenham starting XI for Gareth Bale in this afternoon's Premier League game against Sunderland.
King replaces the suspended Younes Kaboul in defence while Sandro comes in for winger Bale, who misses out due to injury. Striker Jermain Defoe is left out of the squad after suffering an injury.
Martin O’Neill has named the same Sunderland line-up that beat Blackburn, meaning Lee Cattermole and Nicklas Bendtner have to settle for places on the bench.
Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Gallas, King, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Parker, Sandro, Modric, Adebayor, Van der Vaart.
Subs: Cudicini, Pavlyuchenko, Bassong, Kranjcar, Rose, Livermore, Pienaar.
Sunderland: Westwood, O’Shea, Brown, Bramble, Bardsley, Larsson, Colback, Vaughan, Richardson, Wickham, Sessegnon.
Subs: Carson, Cattermole, Gardner, Ji, McClean, Elmohamady, Bendtner.
Referee: Mike Dean.
