Sunderland forward Nicklas Bendtner has issued a public apology following his arrest on Thursday and vowed to focus only on football from now on.

The 23-year-old Denmark international, on a season loan from Arsenal, was held by Northumbria Police yesterday along with Black Cats team-mate Lee Cattermole after cars were damaged in Newcastle city centre.
