Everton forward Magaye Gueye was given his first Barclays Premier League start since April – and only the third of his career – at home to Norwich.

The 21-year-old, who had made only 11 previous appearances in his 18-month career with the Toffees, and the fit-again Leon Osman were the only two changes from the side which lost at Arsenal last weekend.

Norwich manager Paul Lambert kept faith with the same team which beat Newcastle 4-2, with goalkeeper John Ruddy making a return to his former club.

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Heitinga, Jagielka, Baines, Gueye, Neville, Fellaini, Osman, Cahill, Saha. Subs: Mucha, Bilyaletdinov, Drenthe, Stracqualursi, Distin, Rodwell, McAleny.
