Lampard benched for Valencia clash

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard was named on the bench for tonight’s vital Champions League clash with Valencia.

The 33-year-old was replaced in the Blues’ starting line-up by Raul Meireles as manager Andre Villas-Boas made one change to the side that won 3-0 at Newcastle in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.

Valencia manager Unai Emery, by comparison, made five alterations at Stamford Bridge as he recalled Victor Ruiz, David Albelda, Sofiane Feghouli, Roberto Soldado and Jonas.
