Wayne Rooney is expected to be fit for Manchester United’s Champions League encounter with Benfica at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Rooney missed training this morning after getting a buffeting during Saturday’s win at Swansea but Alex Ferguson feels his star striker will recover.

Jonny Evans (hamstring) is also expected to be available but skipper Nemanja Vidic is missing as he serves the final game of a two-match ban.

Provisional squad: De Gea, Lindegaard, Rafael, Fabio, Jones, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Fryers, Nani, Valencia, Gibson, Carrick, Fletcher, Morrison, Park, Giggs, Young, Rooney, Hernandez, Berbatov, Macheda, Diouf.
