John Terry insisted he would never step down as England captain after thanking fans for their support on his return for last night’s 1-0 friendly win against Sweden at Wembley.

The Chelsea defender appeared for his country for the first time since being the subject of a police investigation over alleged racist remarks made to QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.
