FIFA bans Caribbean officials
The fall-out of from the FIFA bribery scandal has claimed more scalps after four officials from the Caribbean were tonight given bans of varying lengths by FIFA’s ethics committee.
Franka Pickering from the British Virgin Islands, one of the few female heads of a national association, has been banned for 18 months and fined 500 Swiss francs.
The three others have had half the lengths of their bans suspended for a probationary period.
They are: Horace Burrell (Jamaica), banned for six months, Osiris Guzman (Dominican Republic) banned for 30 days and Ian Hypolite (St. Vincent and the Grenadines), also banned for 30 days.
A number of other officials have been reprimanded or issued with warnings.
