St. Pat's winger Sean O'Connor scored twice as Dundalk had topscorer Mark Quigley bizarrely sent off at Oriel Park.

Dundalk lost a bad goal and Quigley inside a minute early on. Keeper Peter Cherrie’s clearance on 13 minutes fell to O’Connor 40 odd yards out and the winger’s reaction shot found the net past the stranded Cherrie.

Striker Quigley was booked for throwing the ball away prior to the restart and was then sent off for dissent towards referee Alan Kelly.

St. Pat's dominated thereafter and clinched the points on 56 minutes with a stunning goal from O'Connor who cut in from the right to rifle a shot past Cherrie.

The win moves St. Pat's level on points with Shamrock Rovers in third place, though the champions have two games in hand.
