Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic returned from a knee injury for the first Old Firm game of the season at Ibrox.

Left-back Sasa Papac was back from illness and he took over from Kirk Broadfoot with midfielder Juan Manuel Ortiz also dropping to the bench.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon also made two changes. Scott Brown returned from an ankle injury to skipper the visitors while Moroccan left-back Badr El-Kaddouri came in to make his Old Firm debut as James Forrest and Joe Ledley started as substitutes.

Rangers: McGregor, Whittaker, Goian, Bocanegra, Papac, Naismith, Davis, Edu, Wylde, Lafferty, Jelavic. Subs: Alexander, Broadfoot, McCulloch, Fleck, Healy, Juanma Ortiz, Perry.
