Keane returns for Sligo's clash with table-toppers Derry

Sligo Rovers and Derry City meet in the top of the table clash at The Showgrounds this afternoon, kick-off 2.45pm.

Derry currently lead the division on goal difference but a win for Sligo would put them level with the Candystripes on 54 points.

Alan Keane is set to return to the Rovers side after missing their midweek Cup match as he has recovered from a thigh strain.

Goalkeeper Brendan Clarke may have to settle for a place on the bench after Ciaran Kelly kept a clean sheet in the Cup clash on Wednesday night.

Clarke was suspended for the Cup game, which Sligo won 4-0 away in Monaghan.

Sligo boss Paul Cook has no injury worries ahead of the clash with Derry.

Derry go into the game after having a week off as they were not involved in the fourth round of the FAI Ford Cup last week.

City may have to plan without Kevin Deery as he is struggling with an ankle injury.

Gareth McGlynn remains out injured, however, the Derry supporters will be delighted to see striker Mark Farren back in the Candystripes after returning from a serious illness.

City boss Stephen Kenny said: "Mark looks in good condition after being out for a long time.

"We're in a great position with nine games to go - the players have put together a terrific run. This is an important game for us and we are ready for it.

"We have been consistent - the players have applied themselves for every single game and have been determined to do well. They have believed in themselves and really excelled.

"We have done well by attacking teams all season and we aim to continue doing that.”
