Dutch winger joins Juventus
Juventus have completed the signing of Holland winger Eljero Elia from Hamburg, the Serie A club confirmed today.
The 24-year-old joins the Turin giants for a fee of nine million euros and has signed a four-year contract.
“I know a lot about Juventus,” Elia said on the club’s official website, www.juventus.it.
“This is the biggest club in Italy.
“For me it was very important that the coach [Antonio Conte] wanted me in making this decision.”
Elia had been linked with a move to the Barclays Premier League, with Arsenal and Liverpool among the clubs reportedly keen, but instead opted to become the third Dutchman to play for Juve.
“I hope I can do as well as them,” said Elia, who follows in the footsteps of Edgar Davids and Edwin van der Sar. “I want to show what I can do.
“I know I can bring speed and skill to Juventus, and I hope to score a lot of goals.”
