A dramatic stoppage time penalty from Mark Quigley saw Dundalk snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat, though the point was enough to edge Sligo, who finished with ten men, back to the top of the table on goal difference.

All the main action came late on at Oriel Park.

Sligo, who's midfielder Danny Ventre sent off on 53 minutes for a second booking, took the lead on 88 minutes when Raffaele Cretaro beat home keeper Peter Cherrie from the edge of the area.

But with three minutes up in added time, Quigley was taken down inside the box by John Russell.

Quigley calmly stepped up to send Sligo keeper Brendan Clarke the wrong way from the spot.
