Rovers aim to regain table-top
Shamrock Rovers would return to the top of the table with victory over arch rivals Bohemians at Dalymount Park tonight, kick-off 7.05pm.
The Hoops travel to Dalymount without Chris Turner and Pat Sullivan who are both suspended, while Ken Oman (knee) and Karl Sheppard (ankle) remain out of the squad.
Stephen O’Donnell has also been ruled out of the game with a hamstring injury and there is a doubt over Gary McCabe who picked up a knock in Tuesday’s Champions League game.
Rovers boss Michael O’Neill said: “We haven’t had a break, as Bohemians have, but the games we’ve had in Europe during that time should stand to us in this big game.
“After the disappointment of Tuesday night, a game like this is exactly what they need. They are all more than up for it and will be looking to get a good result from the fixture, and get back to league action in a positive manner.”
Gypsies boss Pat Fenlon is without forwards Anto Flood and Stephen Traynor due to injury.
Aidan Downes is likely to start alongside Christy Fagan, who has scored six of Bohemians’ last ten goals in Airtricity League and Europa League.
Mark Rossiter is struggling for fitness following recurrence of his hamstring injury but defender Liam Burns has returned to training after recovering from a knock to the head.
Goalkeeper Chris O’Connor (facial injury) remains sidelined but reserve keeper Craig Sexton should be fit after returning from injury.
