Woodgate makes Stoke bow

Jonathan Woodgate was handed his Stoke debut for this evening’s Europa League third qualifying round second leg against Hajduk Split.

Woodgate came into the heart of the Potters defence, with Robert Huth switching to full-back to replace Andy Wilkinson, who was not included in the squad.

Rory Delap had not travelled with the group to Croatia, so Dean Whitehead took his place in midfield in the only other change to team that had started last Thursday’s 1-0 first leg victory at the Britannia Stadium.
