Celtic lose Loovens

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed defender Glenn Loovens will be out for “three or four weeks” after picking up a hamstring problem in training yesterday.

The Dutchman started the Hoops’ opening Clydesdale Bank Premier League fixture against Hibernian but now faces a spell on the sidelines and looks set to miss SPL fixtures against Aberdeen, Dundee United and St Johnstone.

Speaking after tonight’s 2-0 friendly defeat at Swansea, Lennon said: “It’s a strange one, he came up off the ground and had a bit of a collision in training and felt the hamstring, go and it will put him out for three or four weeks.”

A statement on the Celtic website was more pessimistic, saying the 27-year-old could be out for up to six weeks.
