Quigley hat-trick sinks Bray
Bray Wanderers 1 Dundalk 5
Mark Quigley gave Airtricity League manager Damien Richardson food for thought this evening by scoring a hat-trick as Dundalk beat Bray for the first time in five outings.
The win sees Dundalk leapfrog both Bray and Bohemians into fifth place in the Premier Division table.
Striker Quigley was a surprise omission from Richardson’s Airtricity squad for next month's Dublin Super Cup announced on Monday.
But he wasted no time in posting a reminder of what he can do.
Quigley opened the scoring on 10 minutes following a fine solo run from his own half.
Danny O’Connor levelled for Bray on 26 minutes, flashing home a header from Chris Shields’ cross.
But within three minutes Bray had left-back Joe Kendrick sent off for taking down Quigley in the penalty area. Quigley duly converted the spot kick to restore Dundalk’s lead.
A minute before the break Quigley struck for his classic hat-trick when his shot form the edge of the area squirmed through the legs of keeper Matt Gregg.
Strike partner Marc Griffin added the fourth goal on 67 minutes when played through on goal by the impressive Quigley.
Midfielder Keith Ward got a fifth goal four minutes into stoppage time.
