Derry dispose of Drogs

Goals from Kevin Deery and Eamon Zayed put bottom of the table Drogheda to the sword and edged the Candystripes to within a point of leaders Shamrock Rovers.

Having knocked seven goals past UCD on Friday, Derry took 23 minutes to break down Drogheda’s stubborn resolve at the Brandywell.

Zayed, a hat-trick hero against UCD, turned provider with a superb cross for midfielder Deery to head past Stephen Trimble.

Despite utterly dominating the contest, the home side didn’t kill off Drogheda until four minutes into stoppage time when Zayed added a second goal following a swift counter by Ruairi Harkin.
